Listen, learn, love and laugh as part of God's family

Year 1

Just in case anyone was wondering Bertie has been well looked after by James all through lockdown. How lucky for Bertie. James is going to continue to look after Bertie until we are allowed to have furry bears back in school!! As soon as he can he will come in and see you but it may be a while!!

Week 4 Mrs Jennings's Blossom Tree. What a difference a week makes!!

Tuesday 7th April 2020

Happy Easter Holidays!

It has been lovely to see some of the work that you have been doing at home. We have both loved looking at the photographs that your parents have emailed to us and they have really made us smile!

Although it is the holidays, we would still love to see what you are up to and will try to answer your messages fairly quickly.

PURPLE MASH and email

We have also been able to see what a lot of you have been up to on Purple mash and are trying to write comments on some of your work. What a lot of work some of you have completed! We will be changing some of the activities over the next few days so look out for that!

I have sent an email to our Year 1s within '2email' on Purple Mash. You can either click on the '2email' icon or look in your alerts to find it.  You should now be able to send a message  your teachers, telling us about any work you have done at home. Anything that you send is kept within Purple Mash and the teachers (and your parents) will be able to see all your messages. It's a really good way for you to practise using the keyboard to write!

Love Mrs Taylor laugh

(Thank you to Albie and his mummy for helping me check that it works first!)

ART ACTIVITIES

There are some ideas for Art activities to have a go at on the school home learning page. Have a go at some of these or make up your own. I'd love to see them! (Mrs Taylor)

We would also like to update the class page on the website, especially with photos of the beautiful Easter gardens you have made and the work on Spring. So keep an eye out on the normal Year 1 page to see what you have all been up to!

I (Mrs Jennings) was in school today and I nipped into the classroom to have a quick look for something and you will ever believe what I saw!! Have a look below to see the special visitor who has made himself at home. He didn't talk to me but I think he is looking after our classroom whilst we are away! I have also attached a couple of photos of my blossom tree. You can really see a big change in it now smiley

We hope that you manage to have a lovely Easter weekend. It may not be quite the weekend you had planned but hope the sun shines and that you can get outside to enjoy some time with your immediate family. I really hope the Easter Bunny manages to make it too!! Happy Easter Year 1!

I found a visitor in our classroom!

Week 3 - Mrs Jennings's Blossom Tree

Welcome to Year 1's home learning page. We will upload some tasks each week for you to do. There are also lots of good ideas on the main home learning page to support you with your child's learning at home. Please ensure that you use these as well as our activities on this page.

The children are bringing home a pack tonight that includes a Purple Mash log in and some phonics work. If you are already isolating and haven't received this please email us and we will get back to you. The phonics work is a booklet based on phase 5 sounds and the mat is phase 3 and 5 sounds. Please check with your children where they are up to in their learning before practising the sounds. These documents are attached below.

Phonics play is a great resource and one we use regularly in school so the children are familiar with it. The link is under the English heading on the main home learning page and there is a code for you to use to get free access.

We are both happy to answer any questions over email regarding tasks set. Please do remember that we both work part time and have our own children at home with us so please do not expect an immediate response. If you are sending an email please address it to both of us and then one of us will be able to reply to your query.
