Listen, learn, love and laugh as part of God's family

Week 3 Monday 22nd June

Hello Year 1,

We hope you are all well and enjoyed exploring the oceans and what lies beneath the waves last week. This week we are off on another adventure into SPACE! We are going to think about what space might be like and find out about some of the stars and planets. Would you like to go off in a rocket and explore outer space? Did anyone watch the NASA Space launch a couple of weeks ago? We did! It was very exciting. Maybe you could build your own space rocket out of some cardboard boxes and go on your own space adventure. Where will you visit first? The moon? Mars? I wonder if you will meet any aliens? We can't wait to see what you come up with.

READY FOR LAUNCH? 5...4...3...2...1..........BLAST OFF!

Just to let you know Mrs Taylor and I are working more and more in school now, caring for the KS1 children of key workers. We will both be in at least 3 times a week for the next few weeks so please bear with us if we don't respond immediately to your emails. Please keep them coming though, we love seeing the children's work and their lovely smiley faces and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Thank you.

Here are the Lancashire plans for this week. We start the week thinking and writing about Buzz Lightyear, a firm favourite character that I know you will like finding out about. There are lots of links included in this plan so even if you choose not to follow it I recommend that you have a quick look for some great Space ideas.

Story time

Of course the theme for this week's story is Space. Follow the adventure a little boy finds himself on one night. Where does he end up? Find out all the interesting facts he learns whilst having a late night adventure.

Science

Now unfortunately I can't find anything to link animals to our space theme this week - as far as I know there are no animals living on other planets! But maybe I'm wrong!! But for now we are going to stick to animals found in the ocean. We are looking at the different features aquatic animals have and how they are similar and different to one another. Look at the information on the slide together. Then choose an activity from the work slide. You can label some animals or you can do some writing to describe an animal. If you labelled a fish last week you can choose a different animal or write sentences to describe the important features of a fish.
