Slyne-With-Hest St Luke's Church of England Primary School

Listen, learn, love and laugh as part of God's family

Thursday June 11th

Hello again year 4 (and parents),

Welcome back after the half-term break.

Here are this week’s learning ideas and activities.

As always, please don't try to complete them all!

They are there to help and support you. Please use whatever is helpful for you.

I look forward to hearing what you get up to this week.

The Great Bug Hunt

The closing date for entries in the Bug Hunt Competition is 12th June so you have a few more days to complete your projects and send them in. Here are the details again, in case you need a reminder.

Reading

This half-term we’re following the Lancashire English plans. So far, this week you’ve been reading about inspirational people. Now it’s time to start thinking about who inspires you!

Other reading opportunities.

Chapters 7 to 10 of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone are now available at the Hogwarts at Home hub.

J. K. Rowling is also publishing a new story online – The Ickabog. A few chapters are published each week and it’s an exciting read!

This year’s summer reading challenge (in conjunction with the libraries) is to join the Silly Squad. Get rewards, play games and earn badges as you discover awesome books to read this summer! For full details and to sign up, visit the website.

Maths

Arithmetic

Remember that the arithmetic sheet has the answers and some hints on the second page! The small group sheet is for the children who usually work with Mrs Bennett and Mrs Savage.

Shapes

This week we’re revising the properties of shapes.

There’s some revision of parallel and perpendicular lines as well as work about triangles and quadrilaterals.

For an extra challenge, try the number of the week and magic square activities.

Science

This half-term we’re thinking about habitats.
