Listen, learn, love and laugh as part of God's family

Summer 1 Week 4 - WC 11/5/20

Maths

Follow the link to this week's White Rose Maths activities. For an extra challenge, why not try one of the maths activity mats. Choose between 1, 2 or 3 stars for your level of difficulty.

English

Our English work this week is linked to the Punch and Judy Topic theme. We would like you to write a character study of Mr Punch or one of the other characters from the story. Remember, you will need to think about the character’s appearance (describe what they look like) and their personality – how do they behave and why?

Spelling

The spelling for this week are words with the ‘tion’ pattern pronounced ‘shun’. There are some tricky words but see if you can learn.

Science

For science, we would like you to look at the results of our comparative test. What do you notice? Were your predictions correct? Record the results by drawing a picture and writing a short sentence about each one.

Topic

We are continuing our topic work on Seasides and thinking this week about Entertainment at the Seaside – Past and Present. We are focusing especially on The Punch and Judy Show and if you haven’t had the chance to see one, there are some examples to be found on YouTube. In the Art folder, we have included some cut out figures for you to create your own. You could even make up a simple script to go with your performance.  Don’t forget to look up ‘Magic Grandad Seaside Entertainment’ on YouTube to learn more.

Computing

Watch the song on the Jessie & Friends cartoon. Use the actions and lyrics sheets to sing along and learn the actions to the chorus. If you would like to, you could perform the song for others in your family - face-to-face or on video chat, with your parents' support.

Art

For the Art challenge this week, I would like you to do an ‘Art Attack’ in your house or garden – linked to The Seaside topic or Punch and Judy. What you do is  use clothes, household objects, fruit, veg etc to recreate a picture (examples below). See how creative you can be. :-)

Science

Wow! Look at the results of our comparative test.

Picture number 1 is the cress that had no water and no sun, picture number 2 is the cress that had had no water but sun, picture number 3 is the cress that had water but no sun and picture number 4 is the cress that had water and sun.

Have a good look at each of the images. What do you notice? Were your predictions correct?
