Welcome to Year 2! 

Welcome back! 😊 We hope you have all had a wonderful summer break. We are really looking forward to teaching the children in Year 2 this year and have lots of exciting learning opportunities planned. 

Throughout the year, the children will take part in a range of engaging activities, including educational visits and visitors to school, helping to bring their learning to life and create memorable experiences.

🏃‍♀️ PE Days

PE lessons will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so children need to be in PE kits on these days, with no earrings in.

📚 Reading at Home

Reading at home is one of the most important ways you can support your child's learning. As the children progress through Key Stage 1, we place a strong focus on developing fluency and comprehension skills. While we continue to hear children read in school, we do not always have the opportunity to listen to every child read as frequently as we would like, so regular reading at home makes a huge difference. 

✏️ Homework

Maths homework will be given out each Wednesday and should be returned by Monday.

Children will also bring home weekly spellings to practise. Spelling is taught regularly in school, but extra practice at home helps children become more confident and successful spellers.

We have a fantastic year planned, full of learning, discovery, creativity and fun! We can't wait to watch the children grow in confidence and achieve great things throughout the year.
