Listen, learn, love and laugh as part of God's family

New Reception 2021

Poem for week beginning 24th January:

She fell into the bathtub,

She fell into the sink.

She fell into the raspberry jam,

And came out pink!

Poem for week beginning 17th January, 'The Kites'

The kites go up. the kites go down.

In and out, all over the town.

The children run and jump and play,

Because they love a windy day.

Poem for week beginning 10th January:

Peter Peter penguin marching by,

Toes turned out and head held high.

A long black coat and a clean white vest,

Peter Peter penguin, you’re the best.

Poem for first week after Christmas:

A cute little snowman had a carrot nose.

Along came a rabbit, and what do you suppose?

That cute little rabbit, looking for his lunch,

Ate that snowman's carrot nose, nibble, nibble, crunch!

This week we have explored ‘wind’. We had great fun with fish races, We have also enjoyed the story of Joshua at Jericho

We have explored ice this week. We looked at ice carefully, we found out how to make ice melt faster and we enjoyed ice lollies to end the week!

What a fantastic time the children have had in their Bikeability Week.

We had a wonderful Christmas party, including a visit from someone very special!

We enjoyed our Christmas Fair this afternoon.

We had a great skipping workshop

This week (29th November) our poem is a fun one to learn:

Today I saw a little worm

Wriggling on its belly.

Perhaps he'd like to come inside

And see what's on the telly!

Next week we are looking at the work of Police, here's our new poem:

Police ride horses and helicopters too.

Their job is always to look after you.

Out and about and in the park,

During the day and after dark.

We have had great fun in our Fire Station role play area this week.

Look at these fabulous fire engine paintings

Our next People Who Help Us topic is 'Firefighters'.

Here is our poem to learn:

Five little firemen standing in a row,

1,2,3,4,5 they go.

Hope on the engine with a shout!

Quicker than a wink the fire is out,

Fire is out, fire is out.

We have had a great time playing in our Post Office role play area this week. We wrote a letter and watched as Miss Bland posted it, then we read it when it came back to school.

Look at some of the children's fabulous writing!

We had fun using our wheeled toys.

This week we are thinking about The Post. Here's our new poem, it's called'The Postman'.

Early in the morning at eight o'clock

I can hear the postman knock, knock. knock.

Up jumps ...................... and goes to the door

One letter, two letters, three letters, four!

Look at our photos of re-telling the Guy Fawkes story and then making chocolate sparklers!

I hope you have all had a lovely half term and are raring to go!

We are going to explore the story of Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot this week, so here's our new poem to learn:

Please to remember the fifth of November,

Gunpowder, treason and plot.

We see no reason why gunpowder treason

Should ever be forgot!

Here is our second Autumn poem:

I'm A Little Conker

I'm a little conker shiny, brown,

And I've just come tumbling down!

Here I lie upon the ground,

Bursting, waiting to be found.

This afternoon we have been to church to see Rev Susan and Lucy!

We are exploring Autumn.

This is our first Autumn week poem:

Autumn Carpet

Leaves are falling in the street,

To make a carpet for our feet.

One leaf, two leaves, three leaves, four!

Wind blows stronger – HUNDREDS more!

Crisp and crunchy shades of brown,

An Autumn carpet cloaks the town

Here is the poem for our Harvest week:

I'm A Little Seed

I'm a little seed

Small and round

Bury me deep in the ground

Sprinkle on some water,

Some sunshine too,

Watch me grow as tall as you.

You can sing it too, to the tune of 'I'm a Little Teapot'.

We tasted different sorts of bread.

Our new poem is Star light, star bright

Star light, star bright,

First star I see tonight.

I wish I may, I wish I might,

Have the wish I wish tonight.

The children have had great fun getting some physical activity today.

Here are some photos from eating lunches

Here's our new poem:

1,2 Buckle My shoe.

Three, four, knock on the door.

Five, six, pick up sticks.

Seven, eight lay them straight.

Nine, ten a big fat hen!

Look at our fabulous spiders!

This week’s poem is Incy Wincy Spider.

Incy Wincy spider climbed up the water spout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.

Out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain,

So Incy Wincy spider climbed up the spout again!

Here are a few photos from the first days in school:

September 2021

Hello again from Mrs Cunningham and Miss Bland. We have had a lovely first day today and are so proud of the children for the grown up way they came into school - they have been wonderful!

I have taken some photos and as soon as I get permissions back from parents I can start to put them on this page so that you can see what your children have been up to!

Here is the first poem to learn, it's Doctor Foster.

Doctor Foster went to Gloucester,

In a shower of rain.

He stepped in a puddle,

Right up to his middle,

And never went there again!
