Listen, learn, love and laugh as part of God's family

World Week

AUSTRALIA

Year 3 have been researching Australia throughout our 'world week'

We looked at stories from 'Tales from the Australian Dreamtime'.  In particular 'How the Birds Got Their Colours'.  The children worked on various activities around this Australian tale, including creative artwork, story boards, music and drama.  They worked in groups to retell the story and performed to the rest of the class.

Year 3 have enjoyed lots of art activities including making their own didgeridoo.  Mr Overfield very kindly visited year 3 to show them a didgeridoo from his collection.  He told them all about their origin, how they were made, what they were decorated like and how they were used by the Aborigines.  They were lucky enough to hear him playing some tunes also.

The children listened to the story 'The Rainbow Serpent' and had to interpret it and retell it their own way through music, drama or poetry.  Some children chose to research Australian deadly snaked instead.  All the children then presented to the rest of the class.

Brazilian Samba Drumming

Year 3 had a go at some Brazilian Samba Drumming.  This was lots of fun and incredibly noisy. (Un)fortunately we were unable to add any sound to the photos!
